Vice President’s Message:
January 2010

I’m not one for making standard New Year’s resolutions, I don’t smoke, I’m not overweight, and I’m reasonably fit. Instead I prefer to set what I believe will be attainable goals. Last year I had 3 goals, each related to woodturning, 1) Build a vacuum chuck, 2) clean and organize my shop, and 3) attend the AAW symposium in Albuquerque. I accomplished the first two goals on that list but the third one did manage to escape me due to work and family issues.

For 2010 I’m setting 3 primary goals 1) get my work into a gallery, 2) make a serious dent in my dry roughed out bowls, and 3) continue to work on my blog and to experiment more with enhancement techniques such as burning, texturing, carving, and color.

I’ve also set several goals for myself in the club this year. 1) Participate in as many President’s Challenges as possible, 2) Work with local schools to get more young people involved in woodturning, 3) Welcome new members to the club and get them involved in club activities.
