Monthly Newsletter...Vice President’s Message:December 2009 It’s Christmas Eve as I write this and the end of the year is right around the corner. Looking back on the last 12 months it becomes apparent that overall this was a very good year for the Arizona Woodturners Association. We had 2 great all day demonstrations, Bill Grumbine in March and Molly Winton in November. February featured the 2009 Desert Woodturning Roundup and the rest of the monthly demonstrations were done by club members Aime Avniel, Earl Edris, Norris Ready, Mike Pulliam, Paul Porter, Jason Clark, Kevin McPeek, and Mike Vickery. 2009 also saw the introduction of the President’s challenge. We plan to keep this going for 2010, the challenge for January 2010 has been announced and in honor of Molly Winton’s November demo it’s “woodburning”. Each piece should feature a burned or branded element. I’d encourage as many members as possible to participate in these monthly challenges. On a personal note 2009 was a good year for me on several different levels. I participated in two art walks, had 2 pieces accepted to the Chandler Center for the Arts woorworking exhibit, and started my daily woodturning blog, http://agoodturndaily.blogspot.com. I’m now just over 4 months into my blog project and still going strong. It’s a labor of love at times but have no plans to stop any time soon. All the best to you and yours during this holiday season and may 2010 be even better than 2009. Jason Clark November Newletter October Newletter Arizona Woodturners Association © 2009 |
